Flemming Madsen resigns as Head of Department at the Department of Pharmacy

Change of leadership

Professor Flemming Madsen has decided to step down as Head of Department by the end of September. As of 1 October 2021, Professor Birger Brodin will serve as interim Head of Department.

Flemming Madsen has headed Department of Pharmacy (IF) since August 2010. A job he has been both happy with and proud of.

Flemming says:

“I have been extremely happy with my work as Head of Department at IF and would like to thank everyone for a fantastic collaboration. In light of the upcoming challenges at UCPH – including adjustments in workspace areas, declining basic funds and regionalization – I have decided that now this is the right time to step down.

There is a need for a new Head at the department, one which with renewed energy and together with employees and the management team can set the direction and steer through the changes that lie ahead."

On behalf of SUND and the Dean's Office, Dean Ulla Wewer would like to thank Flemming for the fine cooperation over the years, and at the same time offer a great deal of recognition for the impressive results that IF has achieved over the last decade.

"Flemming has led the department during the last ten years with great skill and dedication, and in collaboration with his staff he has developed IF into a pharmaceutical sciences' department of the highest international standard", the dean points out and while at the same time emphasizing that Flemming's resignation does not signal an imminent merger of the two pharmaceutical departments at SUND.

Both IFLT, LSU and the Group Leader Forum at IF were informed of the decision on Monday 20 September 2021.

On Friday 24 September 2021 at a general meeting, Flemming Madsen, Birger Brodin, Faculty Director Jess Pilegaard and Dean Ulla Wewer gave all interested employees a more detailed briefing.
