My main research focus is in vitro cell models of the blood-brain barrier. This includes subprojects investigating 1) the usability of P-gp expressing cell line as a surrogate model of the blood-brain barrier, 2) the effect of hypoxic conditions on cultured brain capillary endothelial cells 3) modeling the healthy and diseased brain endothelium using stem cell based in vitro models and 4) drug permeation across the blood-brain barrier.
