Mariena van der Plas awarded Carlsberg Foundation Young Researcher Fellowship grant

The grant will fund her project "The role of membrane vesicles in bacterial resistance to antimicrobials and their potential for targeted therapeutic interventions".

Associate professor Mariena van der Plas has received DKK 4.7 million from the Carlsberg Foundation Young Researcher Fellowship.

The project focuses on understanding the interplay between defence peptides (HDPs) and membrane vesicles (MVs) during an infection, as well as studying the specificity of host MVs, and bacterial MVs from different strains, in order to explore their potential for targeted delivery of antimicrobials.
