Grant from Lundbeckfonden
Postdoc Feng Wan from the Drug Delivery and Biophysics of Biopharmaceuticals group has been granted DKK 1.4 million from Lundbeckfonden to the project "Towards optimal treatment of recalcitrant respiratory infections: Rational design of inhalable nanomedicines guided by a fundamental understanding of bio–nano interactions in lungs."
The work is aiming to unravel the role of multicomponent bio–nano interactions in the lungs in determining the fate of inhaled nanomedicines, thus, providing new knowledge for the development of optimal nanocarrier systems for effective delivery of antimicrobial drugs into bacterial biofilm in the lungs. The findings obtained in the project are considered highly critical and will form a good basis for future research in pulmonary drug delivery and nanomedicines. The project is in collaboration with researchers at the Faculty of Science, the University of Copenhagen and the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland, Germany.
