Drug Transporters in ADME group
This group deals with the role of membrane transporters in Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion (ADME) of drugs in the body.
Projects
-
Drug absorption and drug/drug and drug/food interactions via intestinal amino acid and peptide transporters
Investigations of drug absorption via membrane transport proteins in the small intestine. Drug transport and drug/drug or drug/food interactions are evaluated.
>> -
Biosimulation of transporter/drug interactions
Intestinal uptake and efflux of drug compounds is simulated in computer models, on the basis of data from transport and uptake experiments.
>> -
Drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier
Predictive in vitro models of the blood brain barrier are generated from primary bovine cell cultures. CNS drug uptake is being characterized.
