Microfluidic-based Structural Analysis of Protein Fibrils

The aim of this project is to provide an improved understanding of the mechanism of the Parkinsons related fibrillation of alpha-synuclein, while strengthening the understanding of biopharmaceutical storage and stability.

The project is a collaboration between the BioSAXS and the Microscale Analytical Systems groups. Structural analysis of the fibrillation process is inherently difficult, due to the presence of several structural species at different time- and length-scales. Here, we will take advantage of the fluidic and variable surface properties available in microfluidic devices to enhance control over the fibrillation process.
