LFCCDD PhD fellow attending her first neutron reflectometry beam time

education

Liv Sofia Damgaard recently spent five days at ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, UK, where she got an introduction to neutron reflectometry, an important tool for her research in skin lipid multilayers.

“This May, I went to my first neutron reflectometry beam time at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in Oxford, United Kingdom. Neutron reflectometry will be a key tool in characterising and developing better human stratum corneum models of healthy and diseased skin, and thus in the development of the treatment options for those affected by skin conditions today and in the future. It was five long days (and nights), but I have gained a lot of knowledge, that I am now bringing back home with me to the University of Copenhagen and to our next beam time in June at the ILL neutron facility in France.”
